My goodness, warmer still. No moves. Cows in Downes’ paddock break into fenced off CRP ground. I caught them early and returned them to the right place. I communicated break out to Ricky, who seemed ok.

Temperatures move above freezing. I checked all groups and everyone is doing well. I am less concerned with cow condition as the biuret tubs seem to be helping with grazing utilization. I added new strip for calves.
Warming and chilly SW winds continue. No moves. Dana and I return to ranch late evening.
Cold mornings yet slight warming trend. BLM AUMs used up and not available until March 1st. The young cows leave SNG and placed into NNG3 (need to redo NNG map as paddocks not correct).
Cold deepens (24 below yesterday morning) then begins to lesson. More sun and temperatures move into teens by afternoon. No groups move as feed adjusted to accommodate the cold.
Much colder but less cold than predicted. I moved young cows, but most of ranch energy is focused on feeding and checking water. Dana and I head to Portland for CNB’s annual meeting.
Cold with light snow and NE winds. Harley helped deliver remaining tubs for cows. Ryan having to run generator on Downes’ solar well with continued cloudy weather-costly. Dana delivers Sarah to Wes for visit at B Bar.
Winds change from SW and day turns surprisingly nice. Apprentice applicant Sarah Lemon arrives for site visit. Tanks not being used are drained and water housings are covered with insulating straw.
Cold and getting colder. New temporary splits made for the calves and young cows. Calves self-feeding pellets are about finished. Cows on good feed with good protection for coming week of cold-getting tubs I believe is the right call.
