Cool but still comfortable. Dana, Ryan, and I work (back pour) 2’ and 3’s.
A little morning frost but continued mellow pattern. Ryan was in Billings for pre-op. I did all the feeding. I also fed cows in the Downes leased pasture (8 bales). Tubs are almost used up and we are back into our schedule of feeding the cows every three days. I also built next strip for 2’s , who are mostly relying on straw and hay, as we ‘mash’ down the clover thatch.
Same nice weather pattern. Calves trailed back to Ryan’s. No moves.
Light rain in the morning and then lifting. We had a good crew with Ryan, Wade, Judy, Dana, and Duane to vaccinate and back pouring the calves (including Bangs vaccination). I left for Bozeman early for two talks I will be offering.
No real change. I covered feeding chores as Ryan was in Billings all day.
Windy and a little cooler. Wade, Ryan, Fawne, and I trailed calves to main corrals. Calves will be worked (vaccinated and back poured on Monday). No other moves. I think cows could stay another week in Downes.
Calm and warm with creeks starting to run. No moves. Rick Calquein (NRCS) came to visit about cow condition and grass management. 21 young bull elk cross county road just south of headquarters.
Cool and warm with SW winds. Move young cows to old CRP on NBW3. We will supplement group with straw and hay and encourage trampling of tall rank clover. Put out 12 tubs for calves. ACES 54 Ranch Grass Bank meeting in Billings.
