Wind persists but milder and some warming. Long morning working calves. I moved heifers closer as we had 2 more calves and one was born dead-resulting from a long birth. Ryan continues to work with Tatman (drain pit) and Vidic (Lackey well pump) to get water system fully operational. A little more singing with Robins and Meadowlarks, but pretty slow on the bird end.

Cold strong winds persist most of day with some giving way near the end. Groups stayed put. Natalie and I trailed calves to the corrals for working tomorrow.
Begins with more wind, and a nasty cold wind it is, lasting all day. Still wrestling with water issues. Lackey well needs to be pulled and pit need to be fully cleaned out. All groups except 2’s/3’s stay put. As we had one early calf in the 2’s, I drifted the group into protection in SBW5a.
Warmer. Everybody stays put as Ryan continues to work on the pit. Ryan heard some early frog singing.
Cool and a little rain. Cows camp down on the creek in NG1 on surface water as Ryan works on draining the pit.
Morning frosts continue, otherwise cool. Dana and I left for Bozeman and then Polson to see grandkids. WATER PROBLEMS. Pit is plugged and Ryan’s well is acting up. We moved cows back in NG7 and also fed cows. Tomorrow we will keep working on our water replan.
Pretty darn cold wind today. Natalie and I moved both groups to new splits. Splits are 10 to 15 acres for 2’s and 3’s, and 15 to 25 for the larger mob. It was a cow feed day that Ryan and Natalie did together with both feed trucks. Dana received second covid shot hard-hopefully impact short in duration. I hope to hear my first meadowlark soon.
Cloudy and cool. Moved cows to next split in SG6 (east ½), and now watering on ridge tank. Moved 2’s/3’s to next split NG5. I am still being too tight with the acres (feed). Feed day for 2’s/3’s. Now getting 2 bales every other day. Natalie and I almost finished new fence splitting SG6. Natalie received 1st covid shot and Dana her second.
