Just nice and sunny weather. Cows remain in NBW14 and 10. I spend two days in Rapid City helping facilitate planning Crossroads Company, our ranch partner for biological monitoring and planning. Meadowlarks are actively competing for their breeding territories-no place their song does not reach.

Cloudy and damp turning to soft and chilly rain by evening. Cow 177 calves early. Cows are moved into NBW11 from 15 in the morning.
Cloudy and cooler. Cows break into NBW15 for just the day.
Warmest day yet. Cows all move back into NBW9. I need to make transition to splitting paddocks and blocking off paddocks, now with snow almost gone. There is so much standing feed it is hard to pull cows into ‘fresh’ paddocks.
Continued mild with the snow almost gone except for drifts. No moves.
No change. Monthly sangha visits for Sunday and Monday.
Slight cooling. I gathered bulls out of SNG7 and placed into NNG3. Cows still in NBW10, yet some movement back and forth into NBW9 and 14.
Some clouds begin to return from the west, high and thin, after 5 prior days of cloudless skies during the waning and waxing of the full Moon was a special offering from someone. Killdeers and Robins join the returning meadowlarks, and the geese are back at the reservoir for real this time.
More of the same, yet…the meadowlark is back! CMRCWG meeting in Circle 3 hour drive to the east.
Third morning with no clouds-not one. Moon sets and sun rises at the same time straight east and straight west (see morning photos). Cows move into NBW10 widely spreading out to opening grass. Cows full and are recovering their body condition. I met with Kelsey Molloy and Levi Morgan with TNC and Partners to do more work on preparing a CCAA for possible signature later this year. First horned larks begin to sing.
