Another nice day with this unusual mild weather pattern. I collected remaining cows I missed, that escaped, and tuned up the fence. Ryan continues to work on wintering the water centers. Noticed 445 bulling unfortunately.
Thanksgiving. Windy and warm. Sitting outside with a crescent moon in the dark and no coat-that warm. Cows moved to next (fourth) split in NBW8. Then, the cows escaped down to the creek. I trailed them back with the dogs just in time to cook thanksgiving dinner.
More drying wind. Feed day for cows. John Brown and I talk soil.
Not so windy. Cows moved to 3rd split. I travel to Winnett for Land Committee.
Cloudy and cool turning to snow in evening. 2” by morning. All day in Lewistown at CMRCWG meeting.
Continued windy uncomfortable weather with high clouds. I moved cows into 2nd split in NBW8. Yuccas on the south-facing slope have taken a pretty good hit from past winter grazings-not sure that is a good thing. Cows love yucca root in the winter, I suspect for its dense energy and protein.
Windy, grey, and cool. Cows got their every four-day feeding. Holding the cows back with electric fence, while rolling out the feed is working great! I laid out next temporary paddock for tomorrow’s move.
A little cooler. First split move in the east end of NBW8.
