Light showers and one thunderstorm during weak. Two days in SBW5; 3 days in SBW5a; Cows moved into NG5 on 4.30-first sunny day. Vesper sparrows are back.
Off to Helena to sit-maybe for whole week. All animals stay in place. Dana said strong thunderstorms blew through the ranch dumping short shots of heavy moisture.
Earth day! Cows moved to ½ day graze in next paddock east of SBW7-SBW6. Moved bulls west to mix with 18 steer calves. In the evening moved south into SBW5 for next two days. Four calves so far. Everywhere I fenced in four different paddocks I heard Sprague pipits singing-awesome. I think I heard a vesper sparrow.
Nice rain last night. Cows stayed put. Calves moved into last fresh strip in NNG3 (need to update map with new paddocks).
Windy and cool with a touch of rain. Cows broke into SBW7 where we planned to move anyway. Calves stayed put. Astragulus purshii is blooming. I was off to Missoula on Coalition work. I stayed with Chase and Emily Hibbard that night, and learned of their work to contract their timber for carbon credits.
