Gusty chinook winds take most of snow, then the winds shift strongly from the NE turning much colder accompanied by a light snow. Cows blown by wind back into SW corner of SBW3 seeking a good slope to break the wind.

Received 3 inches new snow and colder, and not without wind. Dana and I returned from Connecticut. Cows are moving into new splits every day.
Same weather conditions. Cows move into 1st split in SBW7.
Winds and moderate temperatures persist throughout. 7 splits for 11 days in SBW3 (346 x 10 days=3460 Sds/150=23SDs
Punishing, drying winds all week. Just cool enough with the winds to be uncomfortable. We moved daily or seven times or seven splits in SBW8 (346 cows x 8 days=2768 SDs/160acres=17 SDs). We have agreed to count one cow as 1 SD versus 1.2. We will be consistent from now on. Cows have been a little resistant the tall crested wheat grass. We varied in pressure on the grass with the different splits, and observing the response next spring will be instructive on respective benefits.
Freezing hard at nights-near zero. Slow warming trend begins. I moved cows into 1st split in SBW8. Cows are getting feed every 4 days.
Woke to about an inch of snow with some melting by midday. Cold and windy for most of week. Attended CNB TL meeting from 12.4-6. Six splits in SBW2: (346 x 1.2 (415) x 7=2906 Sds/200=14.5 SDs).
Storm went south with the light at dusk. Cows moved to next split.
