Colder again with the NE wind to make it better felt. Feed: 3’s 1b, Calves 4b (one too many by mistake). 3’s are challenging the wire. Hard to keep hot everywhere with cold weather requiring batteries for chargers to changed out often. Florin and Ryan remarkably fixed three water issues on line to Big Wall and got water back on.

More warming surprisingly without much wind. S: 3’s 1b, Calves 3b. No moves, yet the rough-legged are moving everywhere-great uptick in wildlife viewing.
Light snow over the night. Some warming and mostly calm today. Supplement: Cows 6b, 3’s 1b and Calves 3 b.
Cold with less wind and more sunshine. 3’s 2b and Calves 3b.
Not a comfortable day for man or beast. NE winds bunch all groups of cattle. 3’s 1b, Calves 4b. Amazing how much a calf can eat on a day like this one. Cows are moved into first split in NG6 and spend the day grazing and huddled in the draws. Rough-legged hawks seem quite at home.
Warming into single digits then evening brings return of cold and bitter NE winds. Cows 6 b; 3’s 1; calves 3 b. It was warm enough to start splitting paddock with temporary fence. Will move tomorrow into NG6.
Coldest morning yet, though still mostly calm with sunshine. Fed 1 bale 3’s, and 2 bales calves.
Continue with ongoing sub-zero conditions, yet calm and sunny. Fed 1 bale to 3’s, and 2 to calves. Mini-migration of rough-legged hawks probably as a result of cold snap following ongoing mild conditions this winter. Counted over 30 on trip to ACES meeting in Winnett-and counted 9 along the road through Adolphs’ and our ranch.
Cold and cloudy with light snow-near 6 inches on the level. Cows get 6 bales (moved from feeding from every 4 days to three); 3’s 1, and calves 2.
Change to cold sets in with more snow, and thankfully little wind to add a deeper chill. 3’s 1 and calves 2. Lost one calf to cold that had been weak and struggling for some time.
