Warmer with a slight breeze. Cows and bulls stay where they are. Calves moved to fresh split in NNG2. Dandelions are now blooming in a big way.

Very windy and cool. I moved 3’s in with cows (371) in last strip in SBW4. Gathered all 20 bulls to place in a center paddock in NNG1 to avoid any mix-ups with neighbors breeding cows. Second nesting Great Horned Owl is in same nest north east of house in NBW16. Yesterday’s new calf (early) is doing well.
Partly cloudy and cooler. Cows stay put. 3’s moved to small strip in NG6. Calves moved into next strip NNG2. Thirteen-lined ground squirrel in NG6 saved from the dogs. I checked out last year’s raven nest in NNG1, and surprise, surprise, the Great Horned Owl is now nesting in the nest. Like two years ago, when GHO occupied a red-tailed hawk nest. Sharp-shinned hawk was seen flying over headquarters. Golden Pea (Thermopsis rhombofolia) is now blooming. Astragulus spatulatus and Ribes cereum are new blooming. And, finally, the chorus frogs have singing off and on over the last week-early.
Cool and calm. Moved calves to next split and cows and 3’s stay put. Early flowers that came up while I was gone: Musineon divaricatum; Allysum desertorum; Lesquerella ludoviciana; Lomatium foeniculaceum; Townsendia hookeri, phlox hoodi; and Taraxacum officionalli.
Cool and windy helping dry the muddy roads. Cows moved to 4th split. 3’s stay put. Calves moved to first split in NNG2. Swainson’s Hawk south of house.
