Clear and fresh from last night’s rain. Levi from the Army Core of Engineers came to survey the ground for a new and larger mesonet station east of the headquarters., We move the big mob to next split in NBW6. We also moved the bull group and the 2’s. Bulls are getting about 3 to 4 acres per split for 2 days. 2’s are getting 10 to 15 acres every 2 days.

Much cooler and feeling the moist air from last night’s storms in the area. We moved cows into last split with the first lane in SBW6. We took a photo of an Upland Sandpiper’s nest with 3 eggs. Bulls moved to next split. Thundershowers arrive this evening bringing about 1/3 inch of new moisture.
Very warm. We just moved 2’s to next split after cutting out some culls for the auction. Heavy evening storms to the west with some hail, yet no moisture fell on the ranch.
Continued warm, yet not the 85 degrees predicted. All three groups were moved to next splits. We are trying to keep moves for the large mob to 30 to 40 acres per day.
Apple blossoms fall Yellow warbler arrives Everything changes Warming up. We moved the mob 2x (about 20 acres for each move). Bulls moved to next split. 2’s remain. East old apple tree in yard explodes with blossoms (see photos). Dana has really embraced the garden this year-growing more to give seems an important practice this year. The lovely upland sandpiper graces the prairie with flight and song.
Overcast with light damp snow returning to the region. Some cows break back east into WL8. Not a huge problem, yet turning then around back in the right directions, with all the baby calves, will take a couple days. Natalie moved 2’s to last split in our third lane in NNG3. Discovered by accident a new sharp-tail Lek in center of WL 6 right in the crested wheat-AMAZING!.
