NS: 17 bulls and 5 yearlings EG (2): Cows (416 includes some dries) Entry: Two dead calves this morning and one this evening. Another autopsy showing super compromised lungs. One more graft helps lesson the loss. New migrants add some joy offsetting calf losses including Orioles, grosbeaks, Chats, warblers, goldfinches, and house finches. Weather: Much warmer.

NS: 17 bulls and 5 yearlings EG(10): Cows (416 includes some dries) Entry: Piles of new calves (18) and a few more deaths. Calves get up and suck and, in a day, or so, are dead. I feel most for the mother cows. We are getting closer to a possible treatment. 5.12

One more calf died waiting for results from autopsy-everyone, vets included, seemed stumped. Weather: Mild mostly clear day with some moisture forecast for the next few days

Both barn and tree swallows in the yard, along with a surprising visit of a male western tanager. Grackles are simply dominating the sound space as nest building in spruces goes on unabated. Weather: .35 tenths last night!! Feels good.
