Cool and no dust for branding. A crew of 37 (including small kids) processed cows and calves-and sorted culls-in less than 6 hours. Great effort made all around.

Cool with light showers. All work focused on branding preparations. We made a wise call to not gather cows into corral holding area the evening before branding. 2’s move into 2nd split in NNG1a.
Just right temperature. Cow mob keeps moving through temporary corridor in SBW3 toward corrals.
Nice rain all day-maybe ½ “. Cow mob keeps moving closer through temporary corridor toward corrals. Ryan delivered some odd sale cows to the BLS auction. Yucca is starting to bloom. ACES grant locked in to support pipeline project. A Swainson Thrush passes through and shares its sweet song.
Overcast and mild-with chance of rain tomorrow-sorely needed.
Cows fully in NG6 and we are setting up a corridor through SBW3&8 to graze cows into the corrals. We were able to gather up the escaped 2’s and located them in the first split in NNG1. Preparing fresh salads daily from Dana’s garden. Much cooler. Cow mob begin to move into NG6 grazing their way to corrals. The 2’s broke into NNG1 before we prepared a new paddock. We will straighten the situation out tomorrow. We (Natalie, Brian with BSWC, and myself completed first bird survey. Miller Moths are on a roll.
Cooling off. Cow mob moves to last split north half of NG5. Bulls move over to Ryan’s into WG1 and into1st split. This move was necessary to clear a space for cows to trail to corrals for branding on Saturday.
Very warm. We moved 2’s to last split in NNG2. Big mob continues to move late afternoon every day in NG5. Tomorrow will begin heading west for branding on the 20th. We need rain. Creek has quit flowing.
`Very hot, yet some relief during the evening. We move both groups. Jumped a rattlesnake while moving cows. Some dense hopper hatches in NG5. Neighboring ranchers met with Gary Adams about whether to trigger a spray for our area. Decision postponed until Tuesday to assess further hatched during the hot weather.
