More light rain. No moves today, as I prepare for trail/move into NBW16. I spent morning in Harlow on MCF/ Extension workshop on Rural Community Development.
More light rain last night. Cows moved into 6th split in NG7. Cows will be trailing north toward Big Wall in two days, and they will be crossing 2 earlier grazed paddocks in SBW. As I prepare for the move, I observe little to no re-growth in the earlier grazed paddock resulting from hopper pressure.
More light rain and cooler temperatures. No moves today.
Fresh rain (.18) last night which continued off and on today. Cows move in the afternoon into the 5th split in the adjusted NG7. Cows were pretty bunched in the morning along fence, leeward of a cool and wet NE wind. We all will be adapting this next week to a forecast of cooler temperatures and increased precipitation.
Cooling trend with some light rain. Cows move into 4th split in NG7, and now watering on west side tank. The move takes cows off the creek bottom, leaving good impact of the riparian area with annual forbs and Canadian thistle thoroughly defoliated.
Very hot yet calmer winds. No moves today as Dana and I attend a Quivera Coalition workshop in Billings for their apprentice program.
Red Flag Warning-hot and windy yet turning calmer by evening. Cows are moved into 3rd split in NG7 early evening. Burrowing owl family is all out. BJ continues pipeline work at Big Wall, crossing county road with a new line to a new water center.
Almost hot. Morning move made into 2nd split in NG7. Hawks, owls, and Falcons are everywhere feeding on all those voles. Dana went to the mountains with friends-very quiet and peaceful.
Warm and dry and bit breezy. I moved cows into 1st split in NG7 (or 9th split) in some overlap with NG1. Cows will be accessing and impacting wetlands for the next three moves.
