Smoke from fires throughout west-mostly California and Oregon. Four more splits in WL1.

Generally cooler and dry. Daily moves through WL1. Note a new fence separates west end of WL1 that creates permanent path to rest of WLackey. Acres may need to be expanded beyond 30 acres/split, as the grazing is practically absent of selective grazing. I worry less about health of grass, as long recovery is planned in, rather I wonder about cover for nesting next year.
Morning brings sharp cooling trend and rain-almost 1/2 inch. Wonderful break out of our pattern of dry and heat. Cool damp north winds push cows back into SBW4. We will clean things up in the morning and move cows to 2nd split in WL1. Large flock of Mourning Doves hanging along road to Lackey.
A little cooler and winds not as bad as predicted-fires continue. In afternoon the mob trails into WL1 first split. More shallow ground the where we have been. Start with 30 acre moves. Cooler and maybe wetter weather coming.
Fires pop up all over eastern Montana, including the Bull Hills and many remain active. Jordan barely escaped a human started grass fire. Mob moves though 5 daily moves the last being today. We have spent 112 days in 5 section (about 1/4 of ranch). Tomorrow we head to the East lackey Unit. Red Flag warning for the next 30 hours
