Weather: Cooler and less wind.
Where: Cows in WG-13; Yearlings in EG-12. Full fed cows one more day close to Ryan’s corrals to continue close observation of calves. Doctored 2 new calves today. I moved heifers to a new split. I will trail heifers to corrals for pregnancy check tomorrow morning. Ryan and Tyler worked on fence prep for next week’s Wildlife Friendly Fence project. A large group of Huns are hanging out in headquarters area, along with a group of sharp-tails.
Weather: Warm and drier.
Where: Cows in WG-13; Yearlings in EG-12. Open rest of WG-13 so cows can water on both ends and spread cows out due to continued doctoring. Weather: Warm and drier.
Where: Cows in WG-13; Yearlings in EG-12. Doctoring slowing down yet very concerned with this unusual health outbreak
Weather: Just back and forth with nothing extreme.
Where: Cows in WG-14-13; Yearlings in EG-12. Cows drift into WD-13 at the end of the day. One move for the yearlings. I traveled to the Phipps in Garfield County to vaccinate steers destined for the feedlot in Mud Lake, Idaho in October. Great neighborhood crew helped get it done. Weather: Turning hotter.
Where: Cows in WG-14; Yearlings in EG-12. Both groups move just once. Cows into last split in WG-14. Still watching calves closely yet have only doctored one calf so far. Ryan thinks we are going to have a long winter-we will check back in a few months. For now, I would love an inch of rain to start a fall green up. Weather: Pleasant, mild and calm fall temperatures…and dry.
Where: Cows in WG-14; Yearlings in EG-12. The last two days the cows moved twice both days and the heifers once. We had to doctor a calf (33-S). A few other calves are little droopy, and we may need to doctor. As we get closer to the fall equinox more birds are starting to sing. Songs will be short-lived yet very welcoming just the same. |
