Cool but above freezing and most of our early snow from the weekend has melted. Finally move cows out of W Lackey into EL7. Very difficult, frustrating, and time consuming for Natalie and I correcting an unforced error on my part.

Warming, melting continue. Cows break out into all of WL out of EL6. Major unforced error, as I had not fully checked the border fence after feeding alfalfa. We make some progress getting them back and contained, yet will require more work tomorrow. Green grass and melting snow offering water for cows, has made moving cows back in rotation very difficult.
Calm with 6 to 8” fresh snow on the ground. Fed cows with every three day alfalfa supplement. Heifers remain in SNG7 on some feed.
Light snow and cool all day. Cows remain in EL6.
First snow-5 to 6 inches and still snowing at nightfall. A little battle with cows that being fed alfalfa every 3 days is just that-not every day, as they sometimes think, returning to cell center. By mid-day cows get it that grass is all they will get today, and they spread out into fully opened EL6 cleared to the Wall with no splits.
Wind and more wind. We’re able to get every 3 day feed (6 bales) out before the wind picked up. Cows move into EL6 after feeding.
Dry and mostly windy. Three splits and 5 days in EL5a. We need to revisit developing water further east in EL to avoid trailing impact.
Continued mostly mild. Five days and 3 more splits in EL5. Large flock of ducks hanging in reservoir, and a nice elk shed in draw west of the reservoir. My view, is feed has nicely thickened in EL5.
Very unseasonably warm today. We fed cows 6 bales. Truck broke down and Rick A. helped us finish feeding. With heat and feeding upping water consumption, and with a good stream of water from the pipeline, the cows had the tank drained right to the bottom. We moved cows to next split in EL5 in late afternoon.
Cool, then turning almost hot during the afternoon. I moved cows to 3rd split in EL5-very nice cover. Moved 2’s to first split on SNG7. Smoke blows in from fire in the Little Belts. We really need a shot of moisture.
