Light and quick shower last night bringing some muddy road conditions. Cows moved into WL5 on the way back to EL5. Crested wheat is thick and coarse and hard to get cows to fully use. The 2’s and 3’s are a little flighty from yesterday’s travel. We fed them 2 bales in corral area.
Super mild with blue skies. Cows are heading back to EL through SB9 lane. 103 3’s and 50 2’s arrive from Travis. We unloaded in the dark.
Cool and cloudy with gusty winds all day. Cows leave the corral area and start heading back east.
Cool and breezy yet pretty great for pregnancy testing. Tested 440 by noon-remarkable. See summary report.
Cool and very acceptable. I trailed cows calmly into the corrals by 10:30. Pre-conditioned 434 calves and finished in the dark. We left the cows and calves separated over the night.
A helpful morning frost, followed by a clear, windless, wonderfully mild day. I trailed pairs through WL5 into SBW9, where fourth day feed was laid out. SBW9 is a clear lane to the corrals. Chickadees, one northern shrike, and a Townsend solitaire observed while moving cows.
Mild and very muddy. I moved pairs out of EL5 into WL as we head to corrals for pregnancy testing and conditioning calves.
Warming trend building. Dana and I are in Billings to receive the Leopold Award-first award in Montana. Cows remain in EL5.
Cold and bitter SW winds bring eventual warming. Cows thankfully found fresh feed and protection in EL5 during the night.
